Why is it that the first thought we usually have of something unknown is fear, our first instinct is to fear change or fear what we don’t know. We shouldn’t let our fears grow stronger than our desire for change or our desire for something new. Life is never more exciting than when it’s changing or when you’re exploring something or sombody new. Aren’t those the most exciting parts of life? The parts that include anticipation. The fact that we have absolutely no idea what’s coming next or what’s around the corner for us.
Uncertainty brings some of the most exciting moments in life; unsure if drinking that last shot is going to kill you tomorrow, but drinking it anyway. Not knowing if that breakup was a good decision, not knowing who you’re going to meet this week, not knowing who’s going to catch your eye, not knowing who’s going to inspire you next or who you’re going to inspire next, not knowing which guy in the bar is thinking about taking you home, knowing you want to change your job but not knowing what to, not knowing where your date might lead or whose floor your panties will end up on. As it turns out the not knowing is, more often than not, substantially more exciting than the actual knowing.

We get so caught up in our own thoughts and we think up scenarios in our head for what’s coming next for us, that we lose focus of what’s most important, experiencing these moments as they happen. Indulge in every single second of uncertainty because it’s fleeting, eventually the truth will become clear or the answer you were looking for finds its way to you. As soon as you wake up feeling like a pile of shit, that’s when you realise that last shot was not only a horrific idea but you also want to know whose horrific idea it was, then of course, realise it was probably your own. As soon as you start indulging in being with yourself again, you will realise that breakup was a good decision. Not knowing if a relationship will work out, don’t worry about if it’s going to, just enjoy the excitement and mystery that not knowing brings. Not knowing if changing your job or career path is a good idea, enjoy the excitement of not knowing, there’s nothing to worry about, the answer will absolutely find it’s way to you. Indulge in the uncertainty of it all, embrace the uncertainty of not knowing what’s to come, enjoy those moments instead of trying to analyse them.
Indulge in the excitement and anticipation of not knowing who’s going to show up in your life or equally not knowing who’s going to make their exit. You have to admit, the mystery and anticipation of not knowing is the moment that makes you feel most alive. So, forget about needing to know what’s going to happen and take comfort in the fact that you are doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, letting life happen and living it. During these wonderful moments of uncertainty is where living life really lies. These moments are the ones that make you feel alive. Alive with excitement, with butterflies in your stomach and most beautifully alive with the anticipation you can only experience from not knowing what’s to come.
